George Poveromo
George Poveromo is a renowned angling authority who serves as Editor-At-Large for Salt Water Sportsman Magazine, the nation's oldest and largest publication on the sport of marine fishing. Considered the fishing authority for over 72 years, Salt Water Sportsman has a paid monthly circulation of over 150,000 readers. George has been on the publication's masthead since 1983.
George's in-depth knowledge of marine angling is the result of a lifelong passion for fishing. In 1983 he was recognized by Motor Boating and Sailing as one of the top eight anglers in the country - at age 23! He has fished along the entire U.S. coast, as well as in Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Grand Canary Island, the Caribbean and a number of Central and South American destinations. His numerous feature articles in Salt Water Sportsman reflect his extensive background and expertise in salt water fishing, and his "Tactics & Tackle" column ranks among readers as the number-one department in the magazine. All of this has made George a household name among Salt Water Sportsman readers and members of the fishing and marine industries.
George is also well-known as the producer and host of the immensely popular Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar Series, the nation's largest and most successful educational course on recreational marine fishing techniques. Now into its 24th consecutive year, the National Seminar Series is an institution in the salt water sport fishing community. The tour visits eight major cities annually, and has educated over 130,000 anglers since its inception in 1988.
And if that’s not enough to keep him busy, George is the producer and host of the immensely popular, nationally-televised series - George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing. Through his hit television show, which has been airing for 11 years now, George teaches viewers how to catch a wide variety of game fish, from exotic species like blue marlin and bonefish to regional favorites such as dolphin, wahoo, tuna, king mackerel, striped bass, grouper, snapper, bluefish, redfish, flounder and numerous others. Filming occurs along the coastal U.S. and popular angling destinations abroad, and George is usually chasing the big ones down aboard his Mako 284 center console, MARC VI. A graduate of the University of Miami, he makes his home in Parkland, Florida.
